Winter Quarters Living History

Winter Quarters Living History

January 24th, 20268 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Confederate Memorial Park, a historical property of the Alabama Historical Commission, will host a special living history on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Using authentically reconstructed Civil War barracks, living historians will provide an immersive experience for visitors of all ages.
Winter weather during the Civil War created impassable roads and other harsh conditions that significantly slowed most campaigns.  When not on campaign, officers kept soldiers busy with a variety of duties including drill and work detail. In their free time, they played music, games, and wrote letters to their loved ones at home.  This living history event will provide visitors a glimpse into this daily life. Demonstrations will also include infantry drill, cooking, artillery, and military music.  For more information and tickets, call 205-755-1990.
