Events scheduled include live chainsaw wood carving exhibitions, demonstrations of wood working techniques, a whittling contest, and live music. There will also be a classic car show—the 17th Annual Cars by the Creek—a variety of children’s activities, artist vendors, and food vendors on site. Festival-goers will find everything from wooden bowls, vases, and toys, to handcrafted benches, chairs, furniture, and more. The chainsaw carving exhibition begins at 10 a.m., and will include a panel of well-known artists: Corey Lancaster of Princeton, North Carolina; Heather Bailey of Calera, Alabama; Justin Bailey of Calera, Alabama; Dayton Scoggins of Heidelberg, Mississippi; and Brandon Adams of Mount Vernon, Missouri. An auction of the items carved throughout the day will be held at 5 p.m. to benefit various community groups and charities. The day’s events wrap up with live music from 6-10 p.m. Acts include Florence, Alabama’s Winston Ramble and the high-energy bluegrass of Rollin’ in the Hay. You won’t want to miss our festival headliner from Austin, Texas, Mingo Fishtrap, who Texas Music Magazine describes as, “where melodic pop meets gritty Memphis soul, with a twist of N’awlins funk.”
