Dauphin Island

The well-preserved ramparts of Fort Gaines have guarded the entrance to Mobile Bay for more than 180 years. Now a fascinating historic site, the Fort stands at the eastern tip of Dauphin Island where it commands panoramic views of the bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The event highlights Fort Gaines integral role in the Battle of Mobile Bay. Come and experience a living history day for the whole family, the upcoming 158th Battle of Mobile Bay Sponsored by the 6th Alabama Cavalry, the Alabama Division of Reenactors.    Saturday will be the Battle of Mobile Bay then a surrender ceremony, on Sunday will be a Military Tactical. (Call for battle times and they are subject to change.)
