April 20, 2019 – “The Building of a Town” Historic Tuscumbia Free Walking Tour, Cold Water Books, 101 W. 6 St., Tuscumbia. Participants will walk through the town when a focus will be on the stores that were first built for the Mechanics, the Planters and Commerce. Early settlers who came to Tuscumbia to settle and build businesses will be spotlighted throughout this tour with stops into one of the Mechanics Row stores and one of the Commercial Row Stores. Interesting commentary about these early settlers and the roles they played within the town will be provided. This tour is led by local historian John McWilliams. This is the 1st of 4 April Walking Tours that will begin at 10 a.m. each Saturday morning. Handouts will be provided each Saturday.
