Rooster Day 2018! Full day of events!
Unless otherwise stated, photo provided by Rooster Day
website
In 1919, Demopolis hosted the great Rooster Auction to raise funds to build a bridge over the Tombigbee River connecting Marengo and Sumter counties, the last link in the Dixie Overland Highway. Thus was erected the infamous Rooster Bridge!
Join the Marengo County Historical Society in commemorating this unique event in Alabama history, especially during the Bicentennial years!
Guests can run the Cock's Crow 5K, browse Rooster Fair in Public Square (arts/crafts/food) as you listen to live entertainment, let the kids be kids at the Coop Games, and wrap up the evening at the Rooster Auction @ Lyon Hall!
