    The Oaks was the family home of Booker T. Washington, founder and first president of Tuskegee University. The house was built in 1899 by students and faculty using bricks made by students, and it contains original and period furniture..

    Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site

    A national park dedicated to educating the public of the importance and accomplishments of the Tuskegee Institute. There is a special emphasis on the home of Booker T. Washington (The Oaks) and the George Washington Carver Museum.

    Commodore Museum

    Former rehearsal and recording studio for the group The Commodores featuring Lionel Richie as the lead singer. Songs such as Three Times a Lady, Still, Sail On, and Brickhouse were nurtured and brought to life at the studio.

    Tuskegee Confederate Monument

    Monument erected in 1906 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in memory of Confederate soldiers from Macon County. Scene of 1960s civil rights activities.

    Tuskegee National Forest

    The Tuskegee National Forest is located approximately 8 miles southwest of Auburn in Macon County. It’s the smallest national forest in the U.S. with 11,000 acres and one of four national forests in Alabama managed by the U.S. Forest. Service.

    Lake Tuskegee

    City-owned recreational site with picnic areas, playgrounds, and 92 acres of water providing fishing, sailing, and water skiing.

    Legacy Museum at Tuskegee University

    The Legacy Museum presents the history of science and health care at Tuskegee and University's visual art collections-through the lens of bioethics.
