2025 Gee's Bend Airing of the Quilts Festival

The Gee’s Bend community invites visitors to the annual Airing of the Quilts Festival celebrating its historic quiltmaking tradition. This year, the festival features quilt displays, sales, live demonstrations, and hands-on workshops with local quiltmakers. Attendees can meet artists, learn traditional techniques, and join guided tours that highlight the community’s rich cultural legacy.

A new exhibition, "Dinah Miller: Gee’s Bend Between History and Memory," at the River Gallery in the Gee’s Bend Welcome Center explores the life of the area's earliest known quiltmaker, whose journey from West Africa to antebellum Alabama shaped generations of artistic innovation.

The Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy will host special programming during the festival weekend, with further details to be announced. The event is organized by Souls Grown Deep, The Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy, and Sew Gee’s Bend Heritage Builders.
