The Auburn University College of Agriculture and the City of Auburn are teaming up to host Bee Auburn 2018, a weeklong celebration of pollinators and their impact on our culture, health, history society and economy beginning June 18 and ending June 22. Leading the state of Alabama in pollinator-related education and activities, Bee Auburn has worked with local and state officials to start the conversation about these important animals and declare Auburn Pollinator Week and Alabama Pollinator Week, coinciding with National Pollinator Week. Over the course of the week, Bee Auburn will host activities around Auburn to raise awareness regarding pollinators. A complete schedule of events and activities is listed below: Monday, June 18: Cooking with Pollinators: Dinner at the AU Community Garden Tuesday, June 19: Coffee Tuesday, Tea and Teacups (space is limited and registration required). Wednesday, June 20: Bee-A-Biologist Educators Event (invitation only), Kids Night at the Arboretum Thursday, June 21: Scientific Arts at JCSM Friday, June 22: Bee Auburn main event from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the Donald E. Davis Arboretum Details regarding each daily activity will be published by Monday, June 4, at auburnalabama.org/parks and in the Facebook event group (which will be live on June 1). Registration will be required for Tea and Teacups, a Sip N’ Paint event, and space is limited to 20 participants ages 21 and older. The cost is $35 per person and covers the cost of materials and studio fees. Registration for this event will open on May 1, 2018. The Bee Auburn festival-styled main event will be held on Friday, June 22, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the Donald E. Davis Arboretum. Complete with vendors, music, Pollinator Walks through the Arboretum, kid’s activities and more – this is an event you won’t want to miss!
