Landmarks Foundation presents the 2020 Cultural Crossroads, Alabama Decorative Arts Symposium; The Emerging State, 1819-1860. The Emerging State will examine the influences that existed on the disappearing frontier a well as how the “outside” world of imports affected artistic expressions. The enormity of the new state and the diversity of its early settlers allows a large range of topics as some areas of the state remained primitive while others began to develop. The 2020 ADAS will also shine a light on the evolution of craftsmanship along social, political, gendered, geographical, and racial lines and will explore the role decorative artifacts played in the lives of Alabamians. Payment may be by check or credit card. Please make checks payable to Landmarks Foundation of Montgomery and mail to 301 Columbus Street, Montgomery, AL 36104.
