A Walk Through Time 2024

October 20th, 20242 p.m. - 5 p.m. Rain Date: Oct. 27, 2024

A Walk Through Time is held in October each year at Forrest Cemetery. Parking is at the old Gadsden High School located at the corner of Walnut and S.12th St.   From there, city trollies transport patrons back in time to the cemetery where they stroll at their leisure. Modern citizens dressed in period clothing portray some of Gadsden's most interesting citizens from various eras of years gone by.  Many of the portrayers are actual descendants of the individuals whose stories they tell.   Forrest Cemetery was established in 1872. The beautiful Ruth Cross Memorial Chapel was built as a WPA project and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The cemetery is a perfect spot to promote Gadsden's history and heritage.

A limited number of golf cart shuttles will be available inside the cemetery for those who might need them.  These golf carts will stop at the shuttle stop marked on the maps available to patrons as they enter the cemetery.   No admission is charged for the event but donations are greatly appreciated as all proceeds go for the preservation of the cemetery.
