Play Synopsis: In the year 1712 Queen Ann decided to take the Golden Hind ship out of  "dry dock" retirement and commission it to be chartered as a touring vessel for the wealthy folk of England. William Smythe was selected as captain and tour guide of the legendary vessel. After the passengers enjoy a fanciful feast on the deck of the docked ship, Smythe’s job is to take the upper crust of London for a landlubbers cruise to the mouth of the Thames and back, and although he thinks it a pantywaist tour, he is happy to accept the coveted task of manning the helm of the famous Hind. After hand- selecting a small crew, he begins the river jaunts that are to entertain those willing to pay the hefty prices for a half day cruise on the historical Golden Hind.Get ready to board for the adventure of a lifetime! Ahoy Matey! Ye never know what lurks in wait on the River Thames for the Golden Hind! Call the box office at 334-470-6568. About the Venue: The venue is uniquely decorated featuring a custom chandelier adorned with Edison light bulbs in the main dining hall. A faux New Orleans city-scape was constructed on the upper wall leaving patrons to imagine they have been transported to a different city. There are two separate restrooms, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, and an actor's greenroom. The building is estimated to have been built in the 1890s and was first occupied by a local doctor. It survived 3 separate fires over the years. In the early 1970s it was a barber shop. It was purchased and fully renovated in 2015 and is now a dinner theater featuring original stage performances. What to expect: Patrons enjoy a 3-course meal designed to match the theme of the night's performance and is delivered to the table in cast iron dishes and set on a customized lazy Susan. Patrons enjoy their meal listening to theme-based dinner music after which a brief intermission is offered and the show starts after the meal. The show runs approximately 1 hour and 15 to 20 minutes.
