7th Annual Massacre Island
September 14th, 2024 - September 15th, 2024Event has already occurredDauphin Island
Over 300 years ago The French explorer, Pierre Le Moyne de'Iberville named Dauphin Island "Masscre Island" because of the huge pile of human skeletons that he discovered. Which later turned out to be a Indian burial ground that was unearthed from a storm. There was a small attack later on Isle Dauphine. The Pirates tied everyone up and robbed their warehouses. Come to Fort Gaines and see the Pirates (in period garb) as they pilfer and pillage Isle Dauphine and fight against Spanish and British Galleons that stormed Mobile Bay. There will be treasure hunts on both days.
The well-preserved ramparts of Fort Gaines have guarded the entrance to Mobile Bay for more than 160 years. Now a fascinating historic site, the Fort stands at the eastern tip of Dauphin Island where it commands panoramic views of the bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
