Winston Groom is author of several books, including "Forrest Gump", adapted into an Academy Award-winning film starring Tom Hanks. Bayou La Batre, home to the fictional Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, celebrates its fishing heritage with annual events such as the Blessing of the Fleet and Taste of the Bayou.
