The Holley House Bed and Breakfast
Holley House was the childhood home of Jonathon Lovelace, founder of American Funds. The home was repurposed as the first hospital in Escambia County and was run by Dr. A. F. Holley when he first came to Brewton in the 1930's. He was the only doctor around during World War II, and every baby born in a hospital during that time was born at Holley House. Divided into apartment buildings in the 1950's, it remained as rental units until the 80's when Dr. Holley's wife, Lenis Holley, turned the building into a retirement home that she ran until her retirement in 2010. A labor of love and restoration has returned this home to its glory. Nearby E.O. Wilson Nature park welcomes visitors. The Blueberry Festival is every June and draws artists and vendors from all over the country. The Brewton Country Club boasts an award winning golf course, with minimal fees. There is a re-enactment of the Battle of Burnt Corn Creek once a year, and the Murder Creek Distillery offers tours and samples of their latest products. A local cross-creek football rivalry is one of the top ten high school football rivalries in the United States and the pageantry should never be missed. Porch Fest each fall brings musicians from all over to entertain on porches of local homes- all you need is a lawn chair and a cooler.
