Tallassee Falls Museum

The Tallassee Falls Museum, a part of the Talisi Historical Preservation Society, gets its name from the great Tallassee Falls, on the Tallapoosa River, where Thurlow Dam is today, and the Tallassee Falls Manufacturing Company, one of the early names for the Tallassee Mills.

The museum tells the story of Tallassee’s rich history and culture through twelve exhibits: Native Americans (Muskogee-Creek), (?-1836); Pioneer Life (1832-1844); Tallassee Falls Manufacturing Company (1844-1900); Tallassee Confederate Armory (1864-65); Tallassee Mount Vernon Mills (1900-2005); World War I (1914-18); Black Heritage; Tallapoosa River and Dams; Tallassee City Schools; Dovard Taunton Art Gallery; World War II (1941-45); and miscellanea.
