Tallassee Confederate Armory

When Confederacy feared security of Richmond, VA, decision was made to relocate Richmond Carbine to old 1844 cotton mill in Tallassee. Only Confederate armory to survive Civil War.  A Roadside marker is located on the bridge above the Armory site. The main building still stands but the interior structure is in ruins with some fire damage. The building is enclosed inside a fenced compound with a locked gate and are only viewable from a distance.
