Springdale

Nestled on the eastern edge of the downtown district along historic East Three Notch Street, Springdale estate beckons to motorists to step back in time through her iron gates. Commissioned by former mayor and textile tycoon, John G. Scherf, the 5,630 square foot home and surrounding buildings rose from the dirt in the fall of 1935. This 3.8 acre sprawling estate with beautiful rolling hills and terraces is offered as a charming and elegant backdrop for corporate events, weddings, parties, and more. Springdale offers the main house which consists of five bedrooms, six bathrooms, formal living room, formal dining room, sun parlor, service kitchen & an exquisite courtyard for outdoor entertaining. The property also contains the carriage house, which has been converted into a large heated/air conditioned area for smaller occasions and/or an area for larger engagements to expand. The carriage house also features a large commercial kitchen completed with all necessary appliances to host your event. In any season, the grounds are the perfect location. From the azalea blooms in the spring to the ravishing roses and blooms of the lotus, the gardens add such great color and contrast to the property. Clubs & organizations have an invitation to host their meetings at Springdale. Historical tours, groups, and individuals are also welcomed. Rental furniture is available. Tours can be scheduled by calling Jared Boutwell at (334)428-1131. Walk-ins welcome unless closed for private event. Contact: Jared Boutwell City of Andalusia (334)428-1131
