Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts

Theater in Decatur

Since 1983, the Princess Theatre has presented an array of outstanding music events, including such award-winning artists as Ray Charles, Cloris Leachman, Loretta Swit and Arlo Guthrie and concerts by the Blind Boys of Alabama, jazz greats Dianne Reeves and Chris Botti, and bluegrass legends Del McCoury and Ricky Skaggs. Located in downtown Decatur's New Decatur/Albany Historic District, Music events held throughout the year. Beginning as a livery stable in 1887, it was transformed into a silent film and vaudeville playhouse in 1919. After a facelift in 1941, the Princess emerged with the art deco style that remains today. Today the Theatre serves as Decatur's performing arts center presenting a diverse season of artists and providing innovative arts education programs and a multipurpose rental facility for cultural programs, meetings, weddings and school events.
