Murphy African-American Museum

The home of the first licensed Black mortician in west Alabama.

African-American contractors built the two-story bungalow in 1920 with brick and hand-hewn sill salvaged from the old State Capitol building in Tuscaloosa. Exhibit rooms feature Murphy family memorabilia, displays on local history, African art and artifacts.
