Limestone County Canoe & Kayak Trail

The beautiful Elk River is perfect for a day of paddling the Limestone County, AL Canoe and Kayak Trail. This waterway is Class 1 stream- slow current, no white water - and its water levels are managed by the TVA Dam make it perfect for a day out with the whole family.

The Limestone County, AL Canoe and Kayak Trail is 21.9 Miles long with five easy in and out points. The trail starts just north Elkmont, AL on Veto Road- a short drive from I-65 at Exit 361. The Elk River lazily winds through towering bluffs, untouched forest, and rolling meadows. This year-round trail offers perfect opportunities for seeing the blooming Dogwoods in spring, the fall colors in October, and shade-drenched shores in the summer.
