Lambert's Café's roots may be in Missouri, but the newest location in Foley is still family-owned by the Lamberts, whose first location opened in 1942. In the beginning, the café was known for its meat, vegetables and desserts. Then, second-generation owner Norman Lambert started a tradition of throwing the restaurant's popular rolls to customers he couldn't reach. Today Lambert's is known as the home of these Throwed Rolls.

Lambert's Cafe is "the only home of throwed rolls," and serves up large portions of home-cooked dishes like pot pie, meatloaf, and chicken and dumplings. On any given day, Lambert's may make up to 520 dozen rolls, serving them hot and fresh with each entree ordered. The "throwed rolls" routine began when second-generation owner Norman Lambert started throwing the rolls to customers he couldn't reach, and a tradition was born.
