Holmestead Farm U-Pick Berries and Vegetables

My name is Bobby Ray Holmes and with my partner Mary Kimerling, we opened Holmestead Farm in 2010 to the public. It took us years to get the 90+ acres ready for farming and more years to get the vineyards and fruit trees ready. The hard work has been well worth it and we think you’ll agree when you taste the best blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, muscadines, and scuppernongs in this part of Alabama … all organic and pesticide free. And don’t forget we have fresh okra, tomatoes, squash, purple hull peas and peppers, too. We have over 1000 blueberry plants, 2000 blackberries plants in three (3) varieties, and three (3) varieties of grapes just waiting for you to pick ‘em or buy from our fruit and berry shed. Also over 500 raspberry plants and 300 muscadines and scuppernongs vines. And we're also a plant and tree nursery. Every winter we hold our Winter Plant & Tree Sale. These are not the plants sold in the Big Box retail stores. Our plants are from certified commercial nurseries backed by local University research and support. Excellent root stock and the correct variety for our growing area. Plus, when you shop with Holmestead Farm, you get the advantage and benefit of our knowledge and experience we’ve gained right here on our own farm. We’ve done all the experimenting and trial and error so you don’t have to. Have a growing or plant question? Just ask. We love to share knowledge and talk about farming and gardening.
