Lanett, Alabama was renamed and officially founded as Lanett on February 1, 1895. The city was named after Lafayette Lanier and Theodore Bennett, local textile mill developers and founders of the West Point Manufacturing Company. Situated on the Alabama-Georgia state line along the shores of the Chattahoochee River, Lanett serves as a hub for industry, small businesses, and recreation. Visitors can enjoy water sports and other activities at West Point Lake or experience the Alabama outdoors at Amity Campground.
