The city was named after Lafayette Lanier and Theodore Bennett, local textile mill developers and founders of the West Point Manufacturing Company. Situated on the Alabama-Georgia state line along the shores of the Chattahoochee River, Lanett serves as a hub for industry, small businesses, and recreation.
