Where To Eat
George Archibald, Jr. was 12 years old when he started working in the family barbecue business his father started in 1962. Today, George and his sister, Paulette, keep this diamond in the rough going, serving Archibald's famous ribs and vinegar-based sauce. Lines often form before the doors even open, and spots fill up fast at the picnic tables outside.

No barbecue fan in the Northport/Tuscaloosa area would think of passing up a trip to Archibald’s. Don't be fooled by the humble storefront. This barbecue joint is cooking up some big flavor. When the lines form before the doors even open, you know you’re in the right spot. Just be sure to get there before the restaurant runs out of its famed barbecue ribs, slow-cooked and smoky, irresistibly tender and dripping with finger-licking, vinegar-based sauce. It just may be the best barbecue ever.
