Amsterdam Cafe

Opened in the early 1990s as a place to feature the original owner's handmade Shulbock tables (and the first cold draft Heineken in Auburn), Amsterdam Cafe has evolved into a farm-to-table restaurant utilizing ingredients from local growers and the cafe's own gardens. Purchased by the Cleveland family in 1998, the Vincent Van Gogh-inspired, upscale eatery recently expanded to include the Starry Night Lounge.

One of the 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama

Crab Cake & Avocado Sandwich

Known as an Auburn institution, Amsterdam Cafe is suitable for both laid-back lunches and celebration dinners. The menu is full of options, including salads, fresh seafood and inventive sandwiches.

The crabcake and avocado sandwich is the perfect combination of creamy, rich avocado and salty-sweet fresh lump crabmeat. The popular sandwich is served on a toasted croissant and topped with Creole rémoulade and mango pico de gallo for a little extra zest.
