Youth Art Month at the Wiregrass Museum of Art is an annual event held in March that includes the exhibition of artwork from Wiregrass area K-12 students, as well as installations created during WMA's yearly Out of the (Art) Box high school installation competition held the last weekend of February. WMA is also the regional host of the Congressional Art Competition for 11th and 12th grade students in Alabama's 2nd Congressional District. This year's exhibition includes artwork from over 100 students representing public, private, and home schools. The four Out of the (Art) Box installations on display as part of Youth Art Month were constructed solely from cardboard and have the theme "Exploring Our Places," the Alabama 200 Bicentennial theme for 2017. The Youth Art Month exhibition and Out of the (Art) Box installations are on display through March 31.
