Coffee County Arts Alliance and Center Drugs & Home Health present The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all dance bandleaders back in the Swing Era of the 1930’s and 40’s. A matchless string of hit records, the constant impact of radio broadcasts and the drawing power at theaters, hotels and dance pavilions, built and sustained the momentum of popularity. The orchestra had more hit records in one year than anyone in the history of the recording industry. “Chattanooga Choo-choo” earned the first Gold Record ever awarded to a performing artist. Except for a few years following Miller’s disappearance on a flight over the English Channel in 1944, the orchestra and music have been heard around the world continuously since 1938. Hear their signature theme song, “Moonlight Serenade” and other favorites such as “A String of Pearls,” “At Last,” “Tuxedo Junction,” “Little Brown Jug,” “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” and “The Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square.” Call 334-406-2787 for information.
