Fans of the southern rock band the Drive-By Truckers are in for a special treat. Shoals native and critically-acclaimed songwriter Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers will be joining us for two special acoustic performances at Tangled String Studios in RR7 on December 14th, 2017. Tickets are on sale now for 7:00 PM show and 9:00 PM show. Patterson Hood, co-founder and lead singer of the Drive-By Truckers, has led the southern rock ensemble since 1996. Hood over the past several years has been dabbling into the world of solo performances in-between tours with DBT. The Drive-By Truckers have always been outspoken, telling a distinctly American story via craft, character, and concept, all backed by sonic ambition and social conscience. Hood has three solo records to his name with his latest solo album in 2012, “Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance”. Of the album, Hood says, “Back in January 2011, worn out from having spent a year on tour and facing a new album’s release, I decided to try to write a book. I had an idea for a story I wanted to write and it started coming very easily. By our third month on the road, I already had a pretty firm outline of what I wanted, and several chapters that I felt really good about. I called it Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance, and decided that spring to record it as a solo album. I could clearly hear in my head exactly how I wanted every song to sound and made a list of who I wanted to play on each one. It is in some ways the most personal album I’ve ever made. There has always been a lot of me in all of the albums we’ve done, but usually semi-disguised as character sketches and stories, but the first person narrative in this one is pretty firmly rooted in autobiography, albeit in two dramatically differing time periods.” **IMPORTANT NOTE** Tickets are non-refundable unless the show is canceled or rescheduled. Patrons are invited to bring your own beverage of choice! Venue capacity is 100+ seats
