JAMEY JOHNSON’S 6th ANNUAL HOMECOMING GOLF TOURNAMENT AND BENEFIT CONCERT
October 01, 2017 in Montgomery , AL
5pm - 11pm
Nikki Mitchell Foundation—a Nashville-based pancreatic cancer non-profit—will host Jamey Johnson’s 5th annual homecoming golf tournament and concert this fall at the Cottonwood Golf Course in Montgomery, AL. Going against the notion that golf needs to be a stuffy, regimented affair, the tournament features: shooting off a mattress, archery drives, shot carts and other surprises. The all-day event will host celebrity guests and end with raucous, heartfelt performances by Grammy-nominated country star Jamey Johnson, and friends. In 2014 and 2015, Randy Houser, Colt Ford, Jerrod Neimann and more joined Jamey on stage. “I’m so grateful to my friends for donating their time to fight pancreatic cancer,” Jamey Johnson says. “This is important to me because I’ve lost so many friends to pancreatic cancer in the last few years.” “Nikki Mitchell was one of the most incredible women to walk this earth, and anyone who knew her would say the same thing,” says Carter’s Chord’s Joanna Ott, who previously performed at the event. “She touched so many lives. Pancreatic cancer took hers too soon, as it does so many people. The foundation donates money to research for early detection and the cure of pancreatic cancer. It’s a great cause and her legacy lives on through it.” Nikki Mitchell Foundation is a pancreatic cancer non-profit started by friends who loved Nikki, Waylon Jennings’ business manager of 22 years. Funds are raised with the support of numerous artists who have been affected themselves by this disease. NMF is a young organization, working hard to make a difference. Their emphasis is placed on early detection and patient resources. Johnson was a close friend of Nikki and this benefit is another opportunity for NMF to continue to grow awareness as well as expand the organization's’ community in the Montgomery area.
