Earth Day Festival at Lowe Mill A&E
April 22, 2017 in Huntsville , AL
Join Lowe Mill A&E as we host our inaugural Earth Day Festival. Focused around our growing community garden, the event will include a day filled with activities. Help with tree maintenance and garden harvest. Bring house plant clippings to trade with other attendees. Partake in our seed swap. Farmer Greg and Mike the Gardener will be on site to guide volunteers throughout the day. Over the course of several years, Mike and Greg have cultivated the land into a sustainable organic garden. Learn more about their efforts and future work with the Lowe Mill A&E Community Garden. The day will end with an outdoor potluck and a burn. SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY: 10AM – 4PM: Garden cleanup, tree maintenance, harvesting 10AM – 4PM: Meet Mike and Greg and learn about the community garden efforts 6PM – 9PM: Garden potluck and burn In addition to work in the garden, we are asking attendees to bring plant donations to aid in the development of outdoor spaces at the Mill. Our next five year plan primarily focuses on the exterior of our facility. Gardens and parks, an outdoor classroom, a hammock tree garden, and much more are on our growing list of projects. Each development requires trees and plants. Provide some color and foster growth at Lowe Mill A&E by bringing plants and trees that we can plant around our facility.
