Artist Talk: Anthony Tavis
April 22, 2017 in Huntsville , AL
5:00 PM-6:00 PM
Lowe Mill A&E’s Artist Talk program provides an informal, intimate setting for artists, art lovers and patrons to spend time with Lowe Mill exhibiting artists. These events consist of a gallery walk with the artist, during which visitors can ask questions and learn about process and ideas behind the work, as well as time for less-structured interaction with the artist. Learn the story behind the newest piece for your collection. Refreshments will be served. This edition of Artist Talk features Anthony Tavis, the Birmingham-based artist behind our First Floor West Gallery exhibition, Animal Instinct. Anthony is a self taught folk artist. His works have been exhibited on the gallery and festival circuit throughout the southeast. The artist claims his mind is cluttered with vivid, colorful creations and if they can’t escape, they may drive him mad. Anthony’s style has been called whimsical, intense, and imbued with the enchantment of the American South. Through his art, Anthony has declared war on the mundane and sees every bland square inch of empty wall space as his battleground. His creations are iconic, musical, passionate and hungry for a new home.
