Characterized as "flat good" and given "four big thumbs up" by Montgomery Advertiser's Al Benn (and his wife), Hilltop Grill's ("The Grill") barbecue is reminiscent of the Fourth of July and political election festivities from rural Alabama in the 1940's. The skills of slowly cooked pork, served with a special sauce and stew are as intact today as they were when "The Grill" opened in 1945.
