Famous Dishes

Half-moon cookies

Once known as Pat James' Full Moon Bar-B-Que, the restaurant was bought in 1997 by brothers David and Joe Maluff. Full Moon now boasts nine locations, including the original on Birmingham's Southside.

Although Full Moon is known for its smoked meat, customers flock to the counter and drive-thru window for its famous Half Moon cookies. Made from scratch daily and filled with chocolate chips and pecans, each cookie has just the right amount of crisp. Every single one is hand-dipped into rich, melted milk chocolate, giving it its distinctive "half moon" appearance. Half Moon cookies are also available by the tin for distant fans or those locals who just can't get enough.

Marinated coleslaw

Once known as Pat James' Full Moon Bar-B-Que, the restaurant was bought in 1997 by brothers David and Joe Maluff. Full Moon now boasts nine locations, including the original on Birmingham's Southside.

Throughout the year, Full Moon receives dozens of emails asking for the recipe to its wildly popular marinated cole slaw, a vinegar-based medley of cabbage, green pepper, onion, celery and seasonings. This refreshing slaw is served as a side item, but it also makes a great addition to a barbecue pork sandwich.
